Nurse Practitioner- Practice Manager

About Vargas

Patricia Vargas has been with Houston Kidney Specialists Center since its inception in March 2019 and currently serves as the Practice Supervisor. She has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization from its early days, supporting marketing efforts, establishing new office locations, and leading the hiring and training of staff in alignment with the company’s mission of compassionate and high-quality care.

Originally from South Texas, Patricia developed a passion for healthcare early on while assisting in her family’s healthcare business. She pursued her calling by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2010. She later worked as a registered nurse in both inpatient acute care settings and outpatient long-term care before relocating to Houston in 2013 and joining St. Luke’s Hospital.

In 2016, Patricia transitioned into nephrology under the mentorship of Dr. Munikrishnappa, which laid the foundation for her leadership role at HKSC. Since then, she has steadily advanced within the organization, bringing her clinical background and dedication to patient-centered care into her evolving administrative and clinical roles.

In 2021, Patricia earned her Master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Her dual experience as a provider and administrator gives her a unique perspective on care coordination and patient experience, both of which she champions passionately at HKSC.

Outside of work, Patricia cherishes time with her husband, their child, and extended family. She enjoys traveling, dancing, and playing tennis in her spare time.
