About Devang Patel, D.O.
Dr. Patel was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and raised in Mobile, Alabama. As a first-generation Indian American, he learned the value of hard work and service early in life while helping in his family's gas station business.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with Honors from the University of South Alabama in 2015. He then moved to Dothan, Alabama, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2019.
Dr. Patel returned to Mobile to complete his Internal Medicine residency at the University of South Alabama Medical Center. During residency, he received multiple Excellence in Teaching Awards and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in recognition of his commitment to compassionate patient care and medical education. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for nephrology.
He completed his Nephrology Fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center from 2022 to 2024, where he served as Chief Nephrology Fellow. Following fellowship, Dr. Patel moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he provided comprehensive nephrology care while continuing to educate medical students and residents through lectures and bedside teaching.
Seeking to be closer to family, Dr. Patel and his wife relocated to the Houston area. During his search for a practice that shared his philosophy of patient care, he found HKSC. The practice's commitment to delivering evidence-based, up-to-date nephrology care with a holistic, patient-centered approach aligned perfectly with his own values. Dr. Patel is especially passionate about helping patients understand complex kidney conditions by explaining medical concepts in a clear, approachable way, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, watching movies, following a wide variety of sports, and staying active. He also practices meditation and values maintaining a healthy balance between his professional and personal life.
